Today was another cloudy day in San Diego (I hear it’s sunny here, but I have yet to see it!). I left the house early to get all our laundry done (yes, a necessary evil even when we’re on vacation), and Steve went for a run along the beach. By the time I got back, Steve was showered and had started getting the kids moving. We were packed up and checked out by 10. It was only a 30 minute drive to the new hotel, and we wanted to be there early. We knew it’d be a zoo down there the later in the day it got.
We were able to check in, park the car and check out our room. It’s a king bed with a pullout couch. The children have agreed to share the couch, which, once again, amazed me! The king is so large that Pete will share the bed with Steve and I. This bed is HUGE!
Anyway, once we had checked out the ‘digs’, we were on our way to find breakfast. We found a wonderful little place called Richard Walker’s Pancake House. We h
ad a very filling brunch. Emily got a cinnamon roll pancake which was so huge she said she didn’t know if she should eat it or sit in it (it did look like a circular sofa!) Peter's chocolate chip pancakes proved to be bigger than him! -->
We waddled out of the pancake house and headed back to the hotel. We unpacked a bit more of the car and then decided what our next steps would be. They had early badge pickup for tomorrow’s Comic-Con, but it wasn’t at the convention center next to us. It was at a remote convention center in Mission Bay (where we had just stayed for three nights!) I didn’t want to drive there, because I didn’t want to lose our parking spot. The lot was filling up fast. There was a trolley, so we got online and figured out how to navigate it out to the convention center.
We had a nice ride out, picked up our badges, and had a nice ride back in. Unfortunately, at one point on the return trip, we were supposed to transfer from the blue to the orange line. Sadly, we ended up getting back on the blue line going in the wrong direction! We got off at the next stop and decided to just walk back (we weren’t that far by then). It turned out to be a nice walk. We went through an area called Seaport Village. It’s very close to the hotel and has a lot of quaint shops and restaurants. I hope to get back!
Once back at the hotel with our badges, we got on our swimsuits and headed for the pool. It is a warm salt-water pool, so it is VERY nice! The air was chilly, though, and so I didn’t last long. We all showered and ended up at a restaurant in the hotel. I was hoping to get Pete to bed early tonight, because I know tomorrow is going to be a big day, but I fear it wasn’t early enough. Tomorrow, Day #1 of Comic Con!
^^A sign of things to come...^^
