Day #3 – San Diego!

Steve and I were upearly and packing the car before most of Vegas was awake…which was nice because we could easily use the elevator! The car was packed, and children up and moving by 8am (wahoo!) We grabbed breakfast in the lobby (way too expensive) and were in the car and headed out by 9:30am.

It was exactly 5 hours in the car, and we were in San Diego. Of course, the closer to the beaches we got, the more traffic there was. By the ti

me we were in Mission Bay, the traffic was horrible! But it was a Sunday afternoon, and so many locals were there to play for the day. We got checked into our room (it has a kitchen!) and decided to take a walk over t

o the beach.

Mission Bay is definitely a hot bed of youthful vigor and California sunshine. I felt like I had walked into the middle of an MTV Beach Party. Not really what I wanted, but I guess this is part of the California scene. We rode some of the rides at Belmont Park (a lovely seaside theme park that’s been there for over 50 years), and then walked a bit of the beach. It was very crowded. After a brief stop at a grocery store, we headed back to the room.

Steve and I did some research and discovered a nice fish and chips place away from the beach. We walked over the bridge and found it. It was good! It wasn’t fancy (order your food, get it from the pickup window and then sit down), and we were able to eat outside. I think that experience saved the day for us. We walked back to our room and promptly passed out. There are fireworks at Sea World which we can see each night, but tonight we were asleep before they went off. Oh well, tomorrow night?

Hey Bumbas, GREAT to see you posting once more, we missed you! Still think your children will be scarred for life by their holiday experiences; I'm sure you all look forward to the 3-day chillout time that you have scheduled somewhere along the way. Drive safely Doric

You felt like you were in the middle of an MTV party, and all we get is a photo of Steve in a hammock? Come on! Danielle is reminding me, if it's too loud you're too old! Looks like a fun time worthy of Bumba vacation memories, and Doric - I must say that it's true...this type of holiday experience does scar a person for life. But some scars are awesome good stories to tell, and those are so much more worthwhile than others. Also, Steve always took up ALL THE SPACE in the back seat!!! :/ Chris

Tell Danielle that we were so in awe of everything around us, I didn't even THINK of taking a photo! Besides, they probably would have growled at me...

And Doric, yes, we're all scarred. We're coming to England next year so you can show us how to relax...
