Day 1-2: What time is it? What DAY is it?!?

A small plane from O’Hare to Vancouver, a HUGE plane from Vancouver to Seoul, and we’re here! I now know what it’s like to sit on an airplane for 12 hours straight. If I wasn’t going to see my daughter, I’m not sure I’d recommend it.

We made it to Incheon smoothly, and got through customs quickly…so quickly, in fact, that we had to wait for Andy and Emily to meet up with us!  An hour+ bus ride later, and showers and freshening up, we were ready to head out into the heat and humidity. Woo!

Our first stop was the night market for food. But not just any food, we had soup,  raw beef and still squirming octopus!! I was not as adventurous as the rest. But they all had some! The raw beef was yummy but I do like my meat still mooing.

After dinner we walked through the night market. Stalls selling food everywhere! Much of it fried. We tried fried mug bean and pork pancakes. Coupled with the soy sauce & vinegar onions, they were very good.

We then walked over to the Dongdaemun History & Culture Park where there used to be a baseball stadium. When they were excavating to make a new stadium, they found an ancient walkway to the palace. They have now rebuilt the path and turned the entire area into a park. It was a lovely walk with lots of art.

We then enjoyed a walk down along the canal back towards the subway. There’s so much art! After a quick ride on the subway, we parted ways with Emily and headed back to the hotel. We were sooooo tired and tomorrow is an early start to our day!
